As a sufferer of Anxiety my whole life, I have learned and practiced some affective strategies that have enabled me to overcome the fear-based personality that was once stopping me from living a happy and free life, and reaching my highest potentials. I want to share the mental and nutritional strategies I continue to use that have brought me freedom and happiness. You will be able to incorporate these too.
What is Anxiety?
Anxiety is a mental state where the brain thinks it is in fight or fright mode. It can be the result of negative learned behaviour in upbringing or can develop as the result of sudden environmental stress or trauma. If left untreated, it can develop into mental health problems like depression and forms of PTSD.
How it can also affect your physical health?
Like many other mental illnesses, anxiety can also cause physical symptoms to the body; such as rapid heart-beat, palpitations, chest pain, headaches, high blood pressure, and heart disease.
What does anxiety feel like?
- Excessive worry
- Feeling agitated
- Difficulty concentrating
- Tense muscles
- Trouble falling or staying asleep
- Panic attacks
- Avoiding social situations
- Irrational fears
Things you can implement now to begin reducing the causes and symptoms of anxiety & stress.
Reduce the stress on yourself by using a diary. Noting down things you need to remember will reduce pressure on yourself to keep these in your head, and leave you feeling freer to enjoy your day. Also use it to journal any feelings and symptoms, as a way to support you through your healing process.
🌸 Instil healthy lifestyle habits starting with sleep. Get to bed early on a regular basis, eat your last meal a few hours before bed so your body doesn’t need to finish digestesting. Try drinking camomile and calming herbs to induce sleepiness.
🌸 Also turn off gadgets a few hours before and change white light to orange light to induce the sleep hormone – Melatonin.
