Web designs change all the time, and rightfully so. If you compare the web designs back when the internet started, and the ones you see now, you will see a stark difference. Today, web designs are more appealing and responsive. Even the trends two or three years ago are not useful anymore since they do not necessarily help create a meaningful experience.

Web sliders

There was a time when they were a huge hit since they promoted a call to action. Businesses thought that the use of sliders could help them convince potential buyers to purchase right away. The problem is that for a lot of people, these sliders are like white noise. They do not necessarily make them take action. You will be losing valuable space if you use sliders.

Huge images

There is nothing wrong in using pictures on a webpage. They help attract attention and are appealing to a lot of people. The problem is that they take up too much space. Use smaller pictures that are enticing enough to convince visitors to stay on the page.

Too many colours

Before, rainbow colours were trendy. Many people thought that using every colour in the rainbow would help entice people to visit the page. The truth is that people do not want to feel overwhelmed by tons of colours and prefer keeping things simple. There is nothing wrong in using some colours to avoid making the page dull, but not too many.

Designs compatible for mobile devices only

When businesses realised that many people prefer using their phones to search for information, they tried their best to make the page compatible with mobile devices. “Hamburger” designs became popular as they are easy to navigate via mobile devices. The problem is that some websites are not useful when used on regular computers. The key is to create different sites that match the type of devices used by the visitor.

Boring font

Given the availability of different font styles today, it does not necessarily make sense to limit your options. You need to start using interesting font styles. Avoid using a generic font that people could use from their computer. Make sure though that you limit the number of fonts to two or three to avoid confusion.

Endless scrolling pages

This design might still exist today, but it has to go. People want convenience when using a website. Infinite scrolling pages are annoying and time-consuming. Some websites use this strategy as several people find it easy, but it is less convenient.

Given that web designs change all the time, you need to be cautious in determining what applies to your site. Seek help from experts in web design who will help make your vision a reality.
