The season of giving has come around once again and we want your help, as it is the perfect time to give back. It’s the return of our #ReverseAdventCalendar – an initiative we ran for the first time last year!

It does exactly what it says on the tin; rather than taking something out every day, we are encouraging people to donate something instead. As a certified B Corp, we aim to use business as a force for good, putting people and the planet first.

Food is at the very heart of everything we do at Mindful Chef, so we thought that this would be a fantastic opportunity to facilitate an initiative which allows our community to donate food to those in need, especially around this time of year where there is a sharp increase in demand for emergency food.

We’ve already donated over 1.6 million school meals to children living in poverty in Malawi through our charity partner One Feeds Two. This December we want to extend our help a bit closer to home and help spread the Christmas cheer to those who need it the most.

Last year we received approximately 1,000 boxes- that’s a whopping 25,000 food items. This year we’re aiming for 5,000 returned boxes (or more!) which would allow the Mindful Chef Community to donate 100,000 items of food this Christmas!

How does it work…

  1. Every day from the 1st-20th of December you add a food item to your empty Mindful Chef box
  2. Return your box to us on Friday 20th December using your Collect+ label, found in your box.
  3. Leave the rest to us. We’ll top up the items in your box (to reach 24 in total), then donate the food to those in need via our local charity partners. It’s as simple as that!

Items that can be accepted:

✓ Any non-perishable items e.g. beans, soups, rice, pasta sauce, tea bags etc.

Please don’t include:

✘ Fresh food

✘ Items that are out of date

✘ Other non-food products e.g. gifts, alcohol, toys, cosmetics, sanitary items etc.

Please note whilst the weight limit is generous, your box cannot weigh more than 10kg.

We would love to encourage as many people as possible to get involved, so please do share your progress photos with us on social media by tagging in @mindfulchefuk and using #ReverseAdventCalendar #mindfulchef. We’ll also be sharing daily photos in case you need any inspiration of what to put in your box!
