We’ve always had a keen interest in sport, not just because it’s a key part of staying active and healthy but as we also believe it has a way of uniting people from different backgrounds. We’re proud to be the official nutrition partner to the English Institute of Sport, helping support British athletes to eat well every single week.

The healthy nature of our recipes lends itself brilliantly to athletes who face a lot of the same problems we do – they’re time-poor, aren’t always sure what to cook and want to eat the very best quality ingredients, so they can feel and perform at their best.

But with the Olympics postponed this summer, we took full advantage of the spare time to catch up with some of our best Olympic hopefuls, like British track and field athlete and Mindful Chef ambassador Morgan Lake. See how she’s turning this setback into an opportunity to learn.

What impact has the cancellation of sporting events had on your training?

Initially, it was tough, I struggled to stay focused on training and didn’t even know how or where to train. Working with my mindset coach Emma, I’ve been able to see the postponement of events such as the Olympics as an opportunity to have an extra year of training and understanding my body and mind more. The most important thing has been to stay healthy and grateful for the supportive people around me.

What’s your favourite Mindful Chef meal?

It’s so hard to choose, but probably the Ginger chicken & coconut broth with vegetable noodles.

How does Mindful Chef help you perform at your best?

Mindful Chef is so important to me as an athlete, as it’s imperative to eat nutritious food to recover from training and have energy for the following day. The fresh ingredients in MC meals along with the nutritional information give me confidence in knowing that I have refuelled well. It also helps that MC meals taste amazing and I’m always excited to cook and try out new meals.

What advice would you give to anyone looking to stay active?

I would say try and set out a routine and start your day by doing something active. Even if it’s 20 minutes of yoga or a walk it’ll help form healthy habits and hopefully promote more activity throughout the day.
